| Aaron Spelling was born on April 22, 1923, in Dallas, Texas.
Spelling graduated from Southern Methodist University and moved to New York, New York. In New York, Spelling worked as an actor. In 1953, he married actress Carolyn Jones and the couple moved to Los Angeles, California.
In California, Spelling appeared in more than fifty TV shows and a dozen films. His TV appearances include parts in episodes of "Dragnet," "Gunsmoke," and "I Love Lucy."
In 1954, Spelling began his writing career with scripts for "Playhouse 90" and other shows. Four years later Spelling produced his first series, "Johnny Ringo."
Spelling started a production partnership with Danny Thomas. The company produced "The Danny Thomas Show," "The Guns of Will Sonnet," and "The Mod Squad."
In 1971, Spelling formed a partnership with Leonard Goldberg which produced 38 television films and many top-rated series including "Charlie's Angels,"
"Starsky and Hutch,"
and "Fantasy Island."
During the late 1980s, Spelling's company began producing films including Mr. Mom, Day One, and And the Band Played On.
