ABC-Paramount

The ABC-Paramount record label was formed in 1955. The label targeted the youth market and, in 1957, signed Paul Anka to his first recording contract. In 1959, Ray Charles signed with ABC.

In the 1960s, ABC's artists included Fats Domino and B.B. King. In 1966, Paramount was dropped from the name and the label became ABC Records.

In the 1970s, Poco, The Four Tops, Steely Dan, and Isaac Hayes were among the artists who recorded for ABC.

MCA purchased ABC Records in 1979.
