America

Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek, and Gerry Beckley met in England. The three young Americans formed America.

The group's first single, "A Horse With No Name," was released at the end of 1971. In early 1972, it neared the top of the UK charts. In the spring it hit number one in the US.

Although Dan Peek left the group in the late 1970s, America continues to record and tour.
