Barbara Cook was born on October 25, 1927, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Cook won a Tony Award in 1958 as "Best Supporting or Featured Actress (Musical)" for her performance as "Marian" in "The Music Man." In 2002, her performance in "Barbara Cook Sings Mostly Sondheim" earned a Tony nomination in the "Special Theatrical Event" category.
