Betty Grable

Elizabeth Ruth Grable was born on December 18, 1916, in St. Louis, Missouri. She died on July 2, 1973.

Grable's mother took her to California to persue a career in show business. Betty was just 14 when she appeared in a small part in her first film.

In the 1930s, she appeared in a number of RKO films including the Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers musical The Gay Divorcee.

In the 1940s, she made films for 20th Century-Fox. She became a star both for her films and as a "pinup" model during World War II.

After the war, her film career faded and Grable begame performing more on stage and in clubs.
