Brad Garrett was born on April 14, 1960, in Woodland Hills, California. Garrett dropped out of UCLA after only six weeks to perform stand-up comedy full time in Los Angeles comedy clubs.
In 1984, he became the first grand champion winner in the comedy category of the TV show "Star Search." Garret began headlining shows at major clubs in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. He also began doing "voice work" for animated TV shows such as "Tranformers" and "Eek! the Cat."
