| In the mid-1960s, Arthur Ripp, Hy Mizrahi, Art Kass, and Phil Steinberg formed the Kama Sutra label which produced several hits. The label signed a deal with MGM to distribute the recordings.
Disenchanted with the MGM distribution contract, Klass formed a new label, Buddah Records, and enlisted the help of Neil Bogart. Bogart brought producers Jeff Katz and Jerry Kasenetz on board. Katz and Kasenetz created the group Ohio Express and spawned a new genre of music known as "bubblegum rock."
Buddah's last recordings where released in the early 1980s and the label was eventually sold to BMG which relaunched it as Buddha and released CDs of several albums mostly from RCA's catalog. Visitor Comments: |
