in Queens in New York, New York. He died on September 5, 2002, in New York City.
Gorman attended the High School of Music and Art in Manhattan and received a bachelor's degree in education from New York University.
Gorman played Lenny Bruce in the stage version of Lenny. Written by Julian Barry and directed by Tom O'Horgan, the play opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theater in May of 1971. Although Gorman received a Tony for playing Lenny Bruce, the part went to Dustin Hoffman in the 1974 film directed by Bob Fosse.
