Curtis Armstrong

Actor and screenwriter, Curtis Armstrong, is a recognized expert on Harry Nilsson and his music. Curtis co-produced several recent reissues of Harry Nilsson's CDs for BMG's Buddha and Heritage labels and has written many articles for the Everybody's Talkin' newsletter.

Curtis Armstrong was born on November 27, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan.

Armstrong studied acting at the Academy of Dramatic Art at Oakland University in Michigan. He was a co-founder of the Attic Theater in Detroit. The first ten years of his professional career were spent on the stage in New York, New York; on tour; and in regional theater productions.

Armstrong's first film role was as Tom Cruise's best friend in Risky Business. His other feature film appearances include parts in Revenge of the Nerds, Better Off Dead, Clan of the Cave Bear, One Crazy Summer, Jingle All the Way, and Big Bully.

In 1987, Armstrong joined the cast of the TV series Moonlighting. He has guest starred in many shows including "Murphy Brown", "Suddenly Susan", "Cybill", and "Lois and Clark."

In 2001, Armstrong played "Sal, the pig boy" in the short-lived television series "The Chronicle." And, in 2004, he portrayed Ahmet Ertegun in the critically acclaimed film "Ray."

Armstrong took a few years off from acting to explore screenwriting in the 1990s. He and his partner, John Doolittle, created several screenplays including one based on the novel Infinite Jest. HBO bought the screenplay for Infinite Jest but never produced the film. The two also did rewrites for films including Robert Altman's The Player and Disney's Tarzan.

Hi Curtis, I really enjoyed your work on MoonLighting. Question, why didn't you list who played what on the Son Of Schmilsson songs, like you did on the Nilsson Schilsson songs? You know, like George Harrysong, etc. Thanks for keeping the Schmilsongs alive and info alive. Mahalo and Aloha, - Prof. Elad
