| David Mackay was born in Sydney, Australia and studied music at the Sydney Concervatorium. At EMI Mackay began as a recording engineer but was given a chance to produce. He became head of A&R at EMI Australia and produced thirty hits.
Mackay left EMI and formed June Productions Ltd. His first independent production, "Look What They’ve Done To My Song Ma!" by the New Seekers reached number four on the US charts. It was followed by other hits including "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing" which he also arranged and produced for Coca-Cola's commercials.
Other artists produced by Mackay include Bonnie Tyler, Cliff Richard, Cilla Black, Billy Ocean, Demis Roussos, Jimmy Webb, and Dusty Springfield.
