John Lennon invited Eric Carmen and Mike McBride of the Raspberries to provide hand claps for Harry Nilsson's recording of "Loop de Loop".
Eric Carmen was born on August 11, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Carmen played violin and piano as a child. Seeing the Beatles inspired him to join a high school band.
While attending John Carroll University, Carmen's group, Cyrus Erie recording a few singles for Epic Records.
In the early 1970s, Carmen helped formed the Raspberries which signed a recording contract with Capitol. Their self-titled debut album spawned the top-10 hit "Go All the Way.
