Frank Gorshin was born on April 5, 1934, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Gorshin began doing impressions while in high school and working as an usher. After high school, Gorshin joined the army, serving as an entertainer. Gorshin was introduced to a Hollywood agent just after leaving the army two years later in 1955. Gorshin appeared in several TV dramas, then was seen in several B-movies before gaining a role in Bells Are Ringing opposite Dean Martin. Gorshin also appeared in comedy clubs and on televison as a comedian and impersonator.

In 1966, Gorshin began playing "The Riddler" on the TV series "Batman" for which he received an Emmy nomination. He also received a nomination a few years later for his appearance in an episode of the original "Star Trek" series.

Gorshin received praise for his performance in "Say Goodnight, Gracie," a one-man stage show based on the life of George Burns.

Gorshin died on May 17, 2005.
