Frederick Oakeley

"Oh, Come All Ye Faithful" was written in France in the mid 1700s under the title "Adeste Fideles." The composers are unknown. "Adeste Fideles" was first published in England in John F. Wade's volume Cantus Diversi (1751).

The hymn "Adeste Fideles" was written in France sometime in the mid 1700s. The composer is unknown. In 1841, Frederick Oakeley translated the Latin words of the hymn into English.

The most popular music for the hymn was composed by John Reading who was the organist at Winchester Cathedral from 1675 to 1681.

Harry Nilsson sings "Oh, Come All Ye Faithful" on the album The Presence of Christmas.
