| Gerry Beckley was born on September 12, 1952, in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Beckley formed a band while in high school, but the band was short-lived. Beckley's father was in the military and the family moved often. In 1968, the Beckleys moved to England. In England, Beckley met Dan Peek and Dewey Bunnell, two other young Americans. The three formed the group America.
