Real Life
James L. Brooks was born on May 9, 1940, in North Bergen, New Jersey.

Brooks is the creator of the hit TV shows "Room 222", "Mary Tyler Moore", and "Taxi". He wrote, directed, and produced the film Terms of Endearment which won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay. He also received Oscar nominations for writing and directing Broadcast News.

Brook's company Gracie Films produced TV shows such as "The Tracey Ullman Show" and "The Simpsons."
