| Jimmie Vaughan was born on March 20, 1951, in Dallas, Texas.
After growing up listening to blues on the radio, Jimmie Vaughan moved to Austin, Texas.
In 1974, Vaughan and Kim Wilson formed The Fabulous Thunderbirds with Keith Furguson and Mike Buck.
In 1980 the group signed with Chrysalis Records. They released three albums to good critical reviews, but poor sales.
In 1986, the Thunderbirds released Tuff Enuff. The album was more pop oriented and went platinum.
Wishing to return to more traditional blues, Vaughan left The Fabulous Thunderbirds in 1989 to pursue a solo career.
In 1990, Vaughan recorded Family Style with his younger brother, Stevie Ray Vaughan. After Stevie Ray Vaughan died in a helicopter crash shortly before the album's release, Jimmie took time away from music to recover from his loss.
