| Josh Caplan joined McCarthy Mambro Bertino in August, 2004, after working in Los Angeles where he he scripted two episodes of Ally McBeal and worked for agencies such as RPA, TBWA Chiat Day, Team One, and Deutsch.
Caplan produced a 90-second black-and-white film, Independent Film Can't Survive in Hollywood. That's Why It's Coming to Malibu., to advertise the 2004 Malibu Film Festival. The film was shown in theaters before movies and set to Harry Nilsson's recording of "Everybody's Talkin'". It showed people dressed as film canisters begging for change and getting pelted by eggs in Los Angeles. The film ends with the line "Independent film can't survive in Hollywood.
