| Josh Ryan Evans was born on January 10, 1982, in Hayward, California. He died on August 6, 2002.
As a child, Evans was diagnosed with a rare disease. Achondroplasia is a form of congenital dwarfism that restricts cartilage growth and physical development. As an adult, Evans was just over three feet tall.
Evans was hired to appear in an Edy's Ice Cream TV ad. Originally the commercial called for a baby to jump up and do a "moonwalk." Evans would have a baby's face digitally superimposed over his own. But the director expanded Evans's role after seeing him dance during rehearsals.
The nationally televised commercial led to small parts in TV shows and the 1999 feature film Baby Geniuses in which Evans played all the babies and did all the dancing.
Evans's co-star in Baby Geniuses introduced him to David E. Kelley, who cast Evans in a recurring role in "Ally McBeal."
In 2000, he played the young "Grinch" in the film How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
From 1999 until 2002, Evans played "Timmy," a doll which comes to life, in NBC's daytime soap opera "Passions".
In 2002, Evans was admitted to a San Diego hospital for treatment of a congenital heart condition. While doctors considered whether to perform heart surgery, Evans died.
A short time later, Harry Nilsson's performance of "Remember (Christmas)" was used in an episode of the TV show during a montage in memory of the late "Timmy Lenox." Visitor Comments: |
