Kenny Everett began his career as a radio announcer for one of Britan's off-shore "pirate" radio stations. When pirate radio was outlawed in 1967, Everett joined the BBC.

Everett was involved in the launch of the BBC's "Radio One" - creating numerous jingles and promotions for the new station. He is also credited with coining the Corporation's nickname, "the Beeb."

On April, 4, 1995, Everett died of AIDS-related causes. He was 50.
