| The brothers, Ray Davies and Dave Davies formed the Kinks in the early 1960s. The band, originally called the Ravens, signed with Pye Records in 1964.
The Ravens changed their name to the Kinks just before releasing their first single, a cover of "Long Tall Sally," in January of 1964.
The band's third single, ""You Really Got Me"," reached number one within a month of its release climbed into the top 10 in the US.
The group returned to the top of the charts in 1970 with "Lola."
A revamped Kinks had a hit in the spring of 1983 with "Come Dancing."
