| Larry Pisoni was the co-founder and artistic director of the Pickle Family Circus in 1973. Pisoni developed the character "Lorenzo Pickle."
At 15, Larry Pisoni left home. One of a number of odd jobs he took was working the spot lights at a night club in New York, New York. The show featured jugglers including Hovey Burgess who taught a class in circus skills at New York University. Pisoni attended Burgess's course and later joined Burgess's Circo dell' Arte company, touring with them.
After the Circo disbanded, Pisoni joined the San Francisco Mime Troupe where he met Peggy Snider, who he later married.
Pisoni, Snider, and Cecil Mackinnon, an actress and juggler, formed an act called the "Pickle Family Circus" in 1973.
