Louis Jordan & His Tympani Five
Louis Jordan was born on July 8, 1908, in Brinkley, Arkansas. He died on February 4, 1975.

Jordan's father was a bandleader and Louis mastered playing the saxophone and other instruments as a child. As a teen, he began to work professionally as a musician.

In 1930, Jordan moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and joined the Charlie Gaines Band then joined Chick Webb's Savoy Ballroom Band.

In 1938, Jordan formed his own group, Tympani Five. The group signed with Decca Records and recorded and toured for 30 years.
