| Madeline Kahn was born on September 29, 1942, in Boston, Massachusetts. She died on December 3, 1999.
Kahn studied opera and appeared in cabaret revues before appearing in films. She garnered attention in her first feature, What's Up, Doc? then earned an Oscar nomination for Paper Moon. She earned another Best Actress in a Supporting Role Oscar nomination the next year for her role as "Lily von Shtupp" in Blazing Saddles. She appeared in two more Mel Brooks films, Young Frankenstein and High Anxiety.
In 1993, Kahn won the Best Actress Tony award for her performance in "The Sisters Rosensweig."
