Inspired by The Lord of the Rings Feld wrote and recorded a song called "The Wizard." Decca planned to release the song as a single with the artist listed as "Marc Bowland." Feld objected to the name, but agreed to use the name "Marc Bolan."
In the late 1960s, Bolan formed the group Tyrannosaurus Rex (later shortened to T. Rex).
The group produced a string of hits in the UK. "Bang A Gong (Get It On)" also hit the top 10 in the US.
Bolan starred in the 1972 film Born to Boogie. In the mid 1970s, Bolan moved into punk music.
