| Marc Cohn was born on July 5, 1969, in Cleveland, Ohio.
As a child, Cohn was taught to play "What'd I Say" on the piano by his older brother whose band practiced in the family's basement. In junior high, Cohn joined a cover band, singing and playing guitar.
During his senior year in high school, Cohn gave a live performance of eleven original songs on the local radio station, WMMS.
Cohn attended Oberlin College, then moved to New York where he became a session keyboard player and the leader of his own 14-piece swing band, The Supreme Court. Cohn's group played at Caroline Kennedy's wedding.
Soon after the wedding, Cohn quit the group to concentrate on songwriting. Cohn's "Walking in Memphis," from his debut album, became a hit in the US and the UK. Visitor Comments:Links:Connections:Marc Cohn ... |
