| Martin Mull was born on August 18, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois.
To pay his way through art school, Mull began performing stand-up comedy. Mull signed with Capricorn Records and released his first album in 1972. His albums of humorous songs have received several Grammy award nominations.
In the 1970s, he appeared in the TV show "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman," playing "Garth Gimble." In the follow-up series, "Fernwood 2-Night," Mull played Garth's twin brother, Barth Gimble.
Mull's film roles include parts in FM and Mr. Mom. On TV, he's been a regular in several series including "Roseanne."
