| Michael Hedges was a songwriter and an acoustic guitarist known for his unusual two-handed picking style.
Hedges studied classical guitar at Phillips University in his home town of Enid, Oklahoma. He received a degree in composition from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland. He also studied electronic music at Stanford University where he met Windham Hill co-founder Will Ackerman.
In the early 1980s, Hedges released albums on the Windham Hill label and collaborated with musicians such as Dweezil Zappa and Crosby, Stills and Nash.
