Nora Bayes

Nora Bayes was born Dora Goldberg in 1880 in Joliet, Illinois. She appeard in a number of successful shows until her sudden death in 1928 at age 48 (due to complications from an abdominal operation).

George M. Cohan personally chose Bayes to perform "Over There" which then became one of the most popular songs of the first war.
