Parker Posey was born on November 8, 1968, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Posey studied theater at the State University of New York.

After college, she appeared for two seasons in "As the World Turns." Then, in 1993, Posey appeared in the film Dazed and Confused. A series of unremarkable, small film roles followed until 1996 when she starred in three films, Party Girl, The Daytrippers, and Waiting for Guffman.

Posey continued to accept parts in independant films and appear on stage until 1998, when she appeared in You've Got Mail then Scream 3.

Posey's other films include Best in Show, Josie and the Pussycats, and A Mighty Wind.
