Pete Kleinow

Guitarist Pete Kleinow is often credited as Sneaky Pete Kleinow or just Sneaky Pete.

Sneaky Pete Kleinow was born on August 20, 1934, in South Bend, Indiana. He died on January 6, 2007.

After high school, Kleinow worked for the Michigan State highway department before moving to Los Angeles in 1963. In LA, Sneaky Pete began playing clubs and composing. Filmmaker Art Clokey commissioned Kleinow to compose the theme for his "Gumby" films.

Around the same time, Kleinow began working on special effects for films. He also continued his music career and joined Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman to form the Flying Burrito Brothers. After leaving the Flying Burrito Brothers, Kleinow played on sessions for many artists including Harry Nilsson, Stevie Wonder, John Lennon, and Jackson Browne.

In the 1980s, Kleinow began concentrating on his film work - contributing to the special effects in The Empire Strikes Back, The Right Stuff and The Terminator among others.
