| Peter Cook was born on November 17, 1937, in Torquay, Devon, England. He died on January 9, 1995.
Intending to follow his father into the diplomatic service, Cook attended Cambridge University. He joined the Cambridge Footlights comedy group.
Cook joined Jonathan Miller, Alan Bennett, and Dudley Moore in "Beyond The Fringe," which opened in London in 1961 and continued to run on stage for five years.
In 1967, Cook and Moore starred in the film Bedazzled. The two continued to work together through the 1970s.
In the 1980s, Cook appeared in several feature films including The Princess Bride and Great Balls of Fire! His last screen apparance was in 1994's Black Beauty.
