Peter Sellers was born on September 8, 1925, in Southsea, Hampshire, England. He died on July 24, 1980, in London, England.
After serving in the military in World War II (and meeting Spike Milligan), Sellers performed for the BBC's "The Goon Show." His film career began in 1951 and in 1960 he won the BAFTA Film Award for his performance in I'm All Right Jack.
Sellers played multiple roles in The Mouse That Roared and in Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. He received an Oscar nomination for Dr. Strangelove.
Sellers may be best remembered as "Inspector Clouseau" in the Pink Panther series of films.
