Plas Johnson

Plas Johnson was born on July 21, 1931, in Donaldsonville, Louisiana.

After touring with the Charles Brown Blues Band and serving in the Army before moving to California and attending the Westlake School of Music.

Johnson became a session player for Capitol Records and, in 1970, joined the band for "The Merv Griffin Show."

As one of the most-respected woodwind players, Johnson has recorded with Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, and many others. He played saxophone for the theme to "The Odd Couple" on TV.
