| Sonny Curtis was born on May 9, 1937, in Meadow, Texas.
In the early 1950s, while in high school in Lubbock, Texas, Curtis performed with Buddy Holly and Waylon Jennings.
In 1956, Curtis moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and recorded with Buddy Holly and Don Guess as "The Three Tunes."
The Everly Brothers produced a hit with Curtis's "Walk Right Back" in 1961. A few years later, the Bobby Fuller Four had a hit with their recording of Curtis's "I Fought the Law."
In the early 1970s, Curtis wrote and sang the song "Love is All Around" which was the theme for the "Mary Tyler Moore" TV show.
In 1989, Curtis won the Country Music Association's "Single Of The Year Award" for his song "I'm No Stranger To The Rain" which was performed by Keith Whitley.
