Smashes Crashes & Near Misses: Best of
Will Birch, John Wicks, Phil Brown, Huw Gower formed The Records in the late 1970s. After releasing an album on an independant label, The Records joined Stiff Records's "Be Stiff" tour which lead to their signing with Virgin Records.

The group released several albums over a three-year period - earning critical praise, but only one minor hit, "Starry Eyes."
