| Stephen Bridgewater was born on August 24, 1953, in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Bridgewater began working as a radio broadcaster when he was 14. While working as a broadcaster, Bridgewater wrote and acted in commercials. In 1987, he sent a tape to director Terry Gilliam who hired Bridgewater to coach Jeff Bridges for his role as a radio announcer in The Fisher King.
Bridgewater made appearances in The Fisher King and other films such as Forrest Gump and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
