| Steve Cropper was born on October 21, 1941, near Dora, Missouri. When Cropper was nine, his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee.
In the 1960s, Cropper played guitar for the Mar-Keys then was a founding member of Booker T. & the MG's. Cropper co-wrote the classic songs "In the Midnight Hour" and "(Sittin' on) The Dock of the Bay."
After the breakup of the MG's in the 1970s, Cropper produced Jeff Beck, Mitch Ryder, and others.
