| Steve Hackett was born on February 12, 1950, in London, England.
Hackett joined Genesis in 1970 and recorded eight albums with the group. In 1975, while he was still a member of Genesis, Hackett released his first solo album Voyage of The Acolyte.
After releasing several more solo albums, in 1986, Hackett formed GTR with Steve Howe. The group released one album which went platinum. The single "When the Heart Rules the Mind" became a top ten hit.
