Sylvia Kristel was born on September 28, 1952 in Utrecht, Netherlands.

Kristel began modeling when she was 17. She entered and won the "Miss TV Europe" contest in 1973 then began acting in films.

Her starring role in 1974's Emmanuelle and it's sequels brought the actress an international audience.
