Tony Richland

Tony Richland was a record promoter who lent his name to John Lennon's favorite of Harry Nilsson's songs: "Mr. Richland's Favorite Song".

Richland earned his reputation as an aggresive independant music promoter with efforts such as travelling up and down the West Coast with The Mamas and The Papas while living out of his car.

In 1959, Richland appeared in the Life magazine photo of Alan Freed as he left a New York courthouse after being indicted for payola.
