Victoria Williams was born on December 23, 1958. Many of her songs are about the South where she grew up and lived before relocating to Southern California.
Williams released her first album, Happy Come Home in 1987. In 1993, Williams was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. A year later, Pearl Jam, Soul Asylum, Lou Reed, and others recorded Williams's songs for Sweet Relief: A Benefit for Victoria Williams which inspired the creation of the Sweet Relief Fund to aid professional musicians in need of health care.
