| Waylon Jennings was born on June 15, 1937, in Littlefield, Texas. He died on February 13th, 2002.
At 12 years old, Jennings was a DJ on a local radio station. Soon afterwards, he formed his first band. In 1954, he moved to Lubbock, Texas and met Buddy Holly. Holly became Jenning's mentor and produced his first single in 1958.
Jennings sometimes played bass for Holly's band and was scheduled to fly with Holly in 1959 on the plane that crashed, killing Holly. Jennings gave up his seat at the last minute to The Big Bopper.
In 1965, Jennings moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he recorded a number of hits for RCA.
