Yoko Ono

Walking on Thin Ice

Yoko Ono was born on February 18, 1933, in Tokyo, Japan.

Ono received a first degree in philosophy from Gakushuin University in Tokyo then studied philosophy and music at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, New York.

Ono met John Lennon at her avant-garde art show in London, England, in 1966 and was at his side when he was killed in December of 1980.

Ono's experimental music sometimes credited with influencing punk music and, though in her 70s, Ono continues to compose and record music.
