A Boy From The City

While the loud, echoy piano that dominates this track is somewhat reminiscent of the production style of his Tower singles, the quality of the songwriting is clearly on par with the best of his RCA recordings circa 1967-1969. If you ask me, this would've made a much better opening song for "Pandemonium Shadow Show" than the awful "Ten Little Indians." The subject matter is completely original. Over the years, there have been tons of songs about the joys of getting away from the hustle and bustle of the big city to bask in some sort of rural utopia. This song takes the exact opposite attitude, lauding all the conveniences that urban life has to offer while poopooing the boredom and loneliness that accompanies the isolation of life on a farm. Somebody really ought to include this as a bonus track on something or other!
