Montreal Gazette Canada January 2, 2008 For her new album, Duets: Friends & Legends, Anne Murray recorded duets with 17 popular singers. Accoriding to the article, "one particular duet with a male singer would have been a dream come true for Murray, but it was stillborn. A collaboration with Harry Nilsson [....]"
Murray describes Nilsson as "my favourite male vocalist of all time. No contest." In 1973, she invited Harry to a recording session. "I wanted to meet him, and he didn't even know where he was. He was so out of it. I was so disappointed."
In 1993, Murray tried to get Harry to tape something for her induction into the Juno Hall of Fame. Nilsson, who had recently suffered a major heart attack, "didn't even know who I was - or who he was, I don't think."
