San Francisco Examiner United States June 23, 2003 A review of new DVD releases includes a positive review of Popeye: "Most people hate Robert Altman's rambling comic strip movie, Popeye (1980, Paramount, $19.99), but I loved it as a kid and I still love it. Cartoonist Jules Feiffer wrote the screenplay, Harry Nilsson provided the wonderful songs, and Robin Williams gives a dead-on perfect interpretation of everyone's favorite spinach-eating sailor. Best of all, no one in the history of movies has been better cast than Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyl."
