Cowboy

Out of all the Nilsson songs I've heard, no other song displays such utterly stunning vocal dynamics. Harry's voice modulation on the chorus quite simply gives me chills every time I listen to it. The way he starts out at almost a whisper and builds to the crescendo of "Can't run/Can't hide/It's too late to fight now?" is worth the price of admission for Nilsson Sings Newman.

Starting pretty much acapella (just the wind as backing) Nilsson's voice is gentle and world weary- as the piano comes in the voice takes off in a flight hopeless passion. Totally stunning. This version leaves the original standing. What a voice.
