The album is
re-mastered and comes in a slipcase with two booklets. The first is a reproduction of the comic book; the other includes new liner notes by Curtis Armstrong and artwork including the original The Point! cover designed by Dean Torrence before he decided to use the needlepoint version.
There are four previously unreleased bonus tracks on the album:
"Life Line" (Take 4) - An early piano/organ vocal take.
"Down To The Valley" - An alternate version. Remixed, and including the coda
which was cut off the single release. Very "Pet-Soundsy."
"Think About Your Troubles" (Take 4) - A completely different version,
recorded with the orchestra in 1969. At this stage, The Point! as a concept
probably didn't exist. [Note from Roger Smith: Harry Nilsson told Allen Zentz that he often visualized a song, almost like a cartoon, while writing. It was while
writing "Think About Your Troubles" that Harry conceived The Point!]
"I'll Never Leave You" - We discovered some time ago that this great Nilsson
song was originally intended for the The Point! and was only removed at the
last minute. We thought the "Point!" version was lost, but found this demo on an unrelated tape, unmarked. Unfortunately, it is also incomplete. On the tape it cuts off abruptly after ninety seconds. They are, however, an exquisite ninety seconds, so we included it as an unlisted bonus track. Piano/vocal demo. Beautiful.
