A pretty depressing affair, Ringo's Rotogravure is full of forced fun and inebriated ineptitude from a host of guest musicians who should be ashamed of themselves for their lackluster contributions. The John Lennon song "Cookin", may be the lamest thing he ever did in his career.
The saving grace of this album was the clever center spread in which various members of Ringo's posse were photographed eating. Harry is posing like a statue, holding a bunch of grapes in a...strategic place, shall we say... If the album had been half as clever as the center spread, Rotogravure would have been a winner. As it turned out, Ringo's first post-Apple album was a huge failure on every level.
