| 2009-08-23 22:19:06 Larry Knechtel played bass on Harry Nilsson's Harry and Aerial Ballet albums. He also played bass or keyboards for many others including Simon And Garfunkel, Duane Eddy, The Beach Boys (during their Pet Sounds and Smile sessions), The Mamas and The Papas, The Doors, and Elvis Presley (for his 68' Comeback Special). Knechtel was a member of the 1970s group Bread. Most recently, he played keyboard on the Grammy award-winning Dixie Chicks album Taking the Long Way.
Knechtel died on August 20, 2009, of an apparent heart attack.
